GARRETT, David Arnold age 94, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Lebanon, OH. He was born the second of 13 children to Albert and Minerva (Richardson) Garrett on Dec. 28, 1918 in Cincinnati, OH. He attended schools in Shandon, OH and Hamilton, OH. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys (Cook) Garrett, whom he married in 1939 in Newport, KY. Their four children include Diane (Melvin P.) Ruder of Hamilton; Neil (Maureen) Garrett of Spartanburg, S.C.; Lowell (Marianna) Garrett of North Bend; and the late Faith (Ronald) Johnson of Gansevoort, NY. Their grandchildren include Christie Ruder Bautch, Shawn Ruder Roach, Kirk Ruder, Heather Ruder Ayers, Eric Ruder, Marta Garrett, David Garrett, Joe Garrett, Martha Garrett Hill, Shannon Johnson Ingraham, and Brian Johnson. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Lavilda Isaacs, Addie Mae Bolinger, Betty Lou Hilling, Harold Garrett and Andre Garrett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Faith, and his brothers Kenneth, Leslie, Vernon, Louis, Oscar, and Donald Garrett and his sister Juanita Garrett Price. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Garrett retired in 1984 from the former Diebold Safe Company, Hamilton, after more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Tazewell during WWII where he was a Seaman First Class. In his earlier years, Mr. Garrett was a Little League Baseball Coach in the East Hamilton League. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Homes, 6410 Cincinnati Dayton Rd., Liberty Township, OH 45044 on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 from 9:30 until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Otterbein Benevolent Care Fund, Otterbein Homes, 580 N.
