McCREARY, Douglas B. 61, Upland, died at 5:50 pm, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Lionel and Doris (Marksberry) McCreary. He married Deborah K. Whirls on September 15, 1973. She survives. Doug was a tool and die journeyman for General Motors in Marion, and retired in 2005 after 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran, while in the Army he was a M16 sharpshooter. He was stationed in Germany and received the National Defense Service Medal. Douglas liked being outdoors, especially working in his yard. He was an avid racing, NASCAR fan, Colts fan and enjoyed going for rides on his Harley. Douglas was a devoted grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors: Wife: Deborah K. McCreary, Upland, IN. Children: Sabena (Josh) Long, Gas City, IN & Brandon McCreary, Marion, IN. Grandchildren: Austin, Marley & Noah. Brother: Darrow (Nita) McCreary. Sister-in-law: Cynthia (Rocky) Goodlett. Nephew: Sean (Rita) Gray. Great nephew: Julius. Great niece: Ezri. Father-in-law: Earl Whirls. His dog: Mac. Preceded in death by: Parents, Lionel and Doris McCreary; mother-in-law, Dorothy Whirls. Funeral Service: at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Needham-Storey- Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 East Main St. Gas City, Indiana with Rev. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will be in Marion Nation Cemetery, Marion, Indiana. Visitation: will be Monday, July 7, 2014 from 4-8pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.nswcares.com
