News Death Notice

BARRETT, Elbert "Squint" age 79, of Hamilton, passed away at Berkeley Square Health Care on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11:12 AM. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on January 5, 1935 the son of Gilbert and Emma (McComb) Barrett. Elbert was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1956 and he was employed with Laborer's Union #1410 at Shook Construction for 35 years, retiring in 1991. On November 10, 1956 in Richmond, Indiana he married Shirley Hall. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Barrett of Hamilton; four children, Mike (Donna) Barrett, Scott Barrett, both of Hamilton, Terry (Tatiana) Barrett of Amelia, and Debbie Fore of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Nikki Patrick, Angie Overbey, Ashley Fore, Jennifer Barrett, Julia Barrett, and Sonia Barrett; eight great-grandchildren, including a special great-grandson, Cody; four brothers; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melinda Barrett; a granddaughter, Amanda Bowers, and a great grandson, Patrick Callicoat. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 12 noon with Rev. Neil Gabbard, Pastor of Christ Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 AM to 12 noon at the funeral home.
