News Death Notice
BARKER, Sr., Glenn O. age 89, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at The Woodlands. He was born May 5, 1924 in Middletown and lived here all his life. He graduated from Middletown High School Class of '43, and lettered in Football and Basketball. He served in the U. S. Army during W.W. II, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, and received the Bronze Star. Glenn was employed as an inspector for 38 years at Frigidaire/ Delco/Harrison Radiator, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God and the American Legion Post 218. Preceding him in death were his parents, Obediah and Nora Alice (Denniston) Barker; his wife Doreen Forkner Barker in 2012; three brothers, Osie, Raish and Vernon Barker; and four sisters, Ethel Lovelace, Dixie Adams, Nannie McCreary, and Elta Fink. He is survived by three sons, Glenn O. (Debra) Barker, Jr., James M. (Charlene) Barker, and Douglas E. (Linda) Barker; seven grandchildren, Kristin Butler, Kimberly Samborn, Stephanie Emely, James Tod Clendenin, Michele Gibson, Lance Barker and Chuck Barker; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Caudill; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Wes Duff officiating. Interment will be at Springhill Cemetery in Bethany, Ohio, with military services by Middletown Combined Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God, 2000 N. Breiel Boulevard, Middletown, Ohio 45042. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S.
