News Death Notice

KAKARIS, Louis J. 87, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 9, 2014 at home. He was born October 25, 1926 in Jackson, Kentucky. Louis served in the Army and CCC during World War II. Louis worked at Armco/AK, retiring after 45 years. He was an avid gardener, played the guitar and other numerous instruments. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Elvira (Robinson) Kakaris, three sisters, Oma, Lula, and Edna, and a brother, Fred Kakaris. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen Jean (Lawson) Kakaris; children, Stephen (Mary Beth), Tony (Marsha), Philip (Debbie), Timothy, Sharon (Timothy), Ruth, Annette, Danny (Miriam); grandchildren raised at home, Corey (Christina), Cassie (Dale) and Bobby; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Ben (Ilene), Ova, Mary (Ed); and numerous other family members. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Hitte officiating. Visitation will be 5-8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
