News Death Notice

LONG, Mary L. age 81, lived in the Farmersville, Germantown and Middletown area all of her life. She passed away, Monday, August 11, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 5, 1933, in Middletown, OH, to the late James O. and Iva M. (Lewis) Craycraft. A graduate of Lemon Monroe High School ~ Class of 1951, with honors and 12 years of perfect attendance. She attended Germantown United Methodist Church. Mary was a former Trustee and Socialite of Middletown Elks Lodge #257. She enjoyed cooking and organizing numerous events for the Elks and family events ~ and especially loved "Shorty's Fish Fries". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Donald Ralph "Shorty" Long (2008); and a brother, Douglas Craycraft. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Long, Robin (Dale) White, Duane (Freda) Long, Stephanie Greenham, Rhonda (Michael) Flory, Rachel (Jay) Craft, and Amy (Roger) Barnes, Jr.; 13 granddaughters & 1 grandson, Leslie (Chad) Ramey, Hillary & Shelley Long, Taylor & Jillian White, Brooke & Lauren Barnes, Katelyn & Kassidy Duncil, Olivia Flory, Claire Tindle, Mallory & Lydia Greenham and Morgan Craft; 5 great-grandchildren, Carley Tindle, Brylie Kiddle, Zahne Long, Kyla Griffith and David Ramey; her brother, Henry "Ray" (Barbara) Craycraft; her sister, Janet Craig; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Craycraft and Jean (Dorman) Snowden; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 14th, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown, where the Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, with Pastor Gary Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery. A special thank you to Dr. Omer Hurlburt, III & Staff, Astoria Health & Rehab Center and to Greg Porter & Katelyn Stone of Nurses Care for their compassionate care. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Astoria Health & Rehab Activities Fund.
