HOOKER, Michael Lee Funeral services for Michael Lee Hooker of Conroe, Texas, 58, of Conroe, Texas will be held on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with Kevin King officiating. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday on October 6, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Michael was born on December 29, 1954 in Hamilton, Ohio to Mr. Estill Hooker and Margaret (Turner) Hooker. He passed away peacefully at his home in Conroe on September 29, 2013 surrounded by his family. Michael was born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio. After high school he joined the Navy and proudly served his country on the USS Coral Sea. Michael was a member of AMVETS Post 1983 and was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge 36, both in Hamilton, Ohio. After moving to Conroe, he began his career that spanned 32 years with Baker Concrete Construction. Michael was one of their lead supervisors and over saw many large projects all over the United States as well as Honduras and The Bahamas. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4709 in Conroe and carried his patriotism within his heart all through his life. He loved sports, especially watching a great game of football, which always involved the Houston Texans, with his family at home. Michael was a true family man and had a heart as big as Texas for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His gentle smile and warm embrace will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Margaret (Turner) Hooker. Michael is survived by his loving family: his father, Estill Hooker of Hamilton, Ohio; his beloved wife of 32 years, Linda R. Hooker (Vaske-Armacost); his loving children, Dr. Kevin (Jen) Hooker of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Shawn Hooker of Houston, Texas, Andrew (Jennifer) Hooker of Conroe, Ron (Jenny) Armacost of Willis, Texas, Robert (Laverne) Armacost of Conroe and Lisa (Ed) Call of Conroe, Texas; his sixteen dear grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was a cherished brother to: Charles Hooker of Hamilton, Ohio, Janet (Ricky) Watts of Hamilton, Ohio, Mary (Tim) Moon of Hamilton, Ohio and Rebecca (Robert) Armacost of Conroe, Texas; numerous other caring family and friends also survive. Pallbearers: Kevin Hooker, Shawn Hooker, Andrew Hooker, Ron Armacost, Rob Armacost, Ed Call, Blake Armacost and Charles Hooker. If desired, the family requests memorials to: Texas Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice in Michael's name.
