News Death Notice
DUNLAP, William E. "Bill" Long time Springfield resident and educator passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013. He was 87. Beloved husband of Alyce Dunlap and the late Joan Dunlap. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Clinton and Estella (Getz) Dunlap. In addition to his wife Alyce, survivors include his children Gayle (the late Steve) Harris, Denise (William) Monigold, David (Tim Hartley) Dunlap. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Cara (Mike) Shebak, Mindy (Matt) Elden, Elizabeth and Bryan Monigold. He is also survived by his step-children: Daniel (Barb) Fitzgerald, Paul Fitzgerald, Frank (Jana) Fitzgerald, Alyce Jean (Doug) Fisher, Johnna (Jim) Florio and Carol Sharp. He is also survived by seven great children, thirteen step grand children, two great step grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Dunlap served in World War II and graduated from Cedarville College. He was employed at Champion Paper and Fibre Company in Hamilton, Ohio. He had long education career in Northeastern Local and Springfield City Schools as a math teacher, high school athletic director, high school baseball coach, junior high school principal and driver's education teacher. He was also a long time traffic school teacher for Clark County Traffic Safety Council. He loved sports and was an avid baseball and softball player. He was active in a Hamilton old-timers league well into his 70s. Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Hugh (Bud) Dunlap, sister Grace Savage, sister Goldie Sheley and special sister-in-law and friend Mary (Elliott) Dunlap.
