Alexander A. Borawski Obituary


Alexander Adam Borawski, 85, of Windsor Locks, loving husband of 59 years to Margaret (Valigursky) Borawski passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital. Alexander was born July 17, 1928, in New Britain, the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Gill) Borawski. After graduating New Britain High School he proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Europe during the Korean war. Alexander was a resident of Windsor Locks for the past 52 years and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church. He retired on July 1, 1993 from United Airlines and spent his retirement traveling the world and devoting himself to his grandchildren. He was an avid New York Giants fan and never missed a UCONN Women's Basketball game. Family was the center of Alexander's life. In addition to his wife, Margaret he is also survived by his three children, Karen Horstmeyer and her husband, Steven of Bedford, TX, Brian Borawski and his wife, Sandra of Enfield, and Diane Bergeron and her husband, Robert of Windsor Locks; his grandchildren, Michael Horstmeyer and his wife, Christine, Kevin Horstmeyer, Gina and Adam Borawski, Jason Mattoon, Matthew Mattoon and his wife, Anna, Christopher Mattoon, Charles Mattoon and his wife, April, Heather Bergeron and Robert Bergeron, Jr.; and three great granddaughters, Ruby, Alabama and Clara Mattoon; three siblings, Agnes Ostertag, Stanley, Jr. and Robert Borawski and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, John, Frank, Anthony, George and Walter; two sisters, Ann Moguliksi and Helen Pucci. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at 9 am for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
