HELLSTROM, Allan F., Jr.

Allan F. Hellstrom Jr., 84, of Meriden, formerly of Manchester and Summerfield, FL beloved husband of the late R. Jannette (Teasdale) Hellstrom passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. He was born on April 12, 1929 in Hartford son of the late Allen F. Sr. and Doris (Warner) Hellstrom. Allan was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the US. Navy. Prior to his retirement in 1987 he was employed as a Planner for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for over 34 years. Allan was a former member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester. He was a member of Manchester Lodge #73 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Sphinx Shrine in Newington, the Shriners Clown Group in Ocala, FL and the Manchester Power Squadron. Allan is survived by his daughter April H. Gothberg and her husband Carl A. Gothberg, who was like a son to Allan, of Vernon; two grandchildren, Jennifer Graham and her husband Cameron of Alexandria, VA and Christopher Gothberg and his wife Heather and their daughter Peyton all of Bellevue, NE, his brother Melvin Hellstrom and his wife, Sylvia of Manchester, a sister Lorrie Wilson of Talcottville and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester from 4-7 p.m. with a Masonic service to begin at 7 p.m. Burial will be private in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104-2396 or the Emanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 60 Church St. Manchester, CT 06040 or to the First Congregational Church of Vernon, 695 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066.
