KRALIK, Ann Gates

Ann Gates Kralik, 84, of South Windsor died peacefully Tuesday, (September 24, 2013) in Simpsonville, SC. Born Dec. 8, 1928 in Enosburg, VT, daughter of the late Winslow and Bernice Gates. She married Joseph Kralik in 1947 and they resided in East Hartford, CT; Sturbridge, MA and South Windsor, CT. Ann was a beautician for many years. Throughout her adult life she volunteered for various organizations affilitated with helping retarded citizens. Special Olympics and Center of Hope were two favorites. She loved painting, especially on slate, and crafts of all types. Ann was a true caregiver for her family accepting many challenges and making life better for all. She is survived by her three children, Barbara Brigham and husband Bruce of Charlestown, RI, Elizabeth Colwick and former husband Bill Colwick of Greenville, SC and William Kralik of Webster, MA, her grandchildren, Robert Colwick and his daughter Kathleen both of Simpsonville, SC and Jason Brigham, his wife Ceylan and their daughter Mina of New York, NY; her sister-in-law, Olga Haberern of East Hartford and several nieces & nephews and their spouses. Besides her parents and husband, Ann was predeceased by her beloved grandson, Jonathan Colwick, three siblings, Charles W. Gates, Helen Hayes and Pauline Stumpf and their spouses and brothers-in-law, William Kralik and Howard Haberern. Ann was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor. Services in VT will be private. Contributions in Ann's honor may be made to Lifeskills, Inc., ATTN: Nancy Marlborough, 44 Morris St., Webster, MA 01570, a non-profit organization that maintains residential homes and services for handicapped members of the community.
