COLLINS, Arthur E. Jr. "Art"

Arthur E. Collins, Jr., 67, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal rest in the comfort of his home on Thursday, (April 11, 2013). He was born in Stafford on November 9, 1945 to Marie (Belliveau) Collins and the late Arthur E. Collins, Sr. Art was raised in Somersville and lived in Maine from 1980 to 2009 when he moved to Enfield. He was a graduate of Eastern CT State College earning a B.A. in Social Sciences. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and was formerly employed by the Department of Social Services for the State of Maine. Art was an avid fisherman and growing up he enjoyed fishing at the Somers Mill Pond, and while in Maine at Sebago Lake. He played in the "Down Home Country Band" in Brunswick, ME. Skilled at Billiards, Art was always up for a good game. In addition to his mother, Marie, he is survived by his siblings, Harry Collins and his wife, Jean, and Leroy Collins and his wife, Beverly, all of Somers; Alice E. Richard, of Springfield; MA; Ken Collins and his wife, Brenda, Ted Collins, Terry Collins, Nancy Wood and her husband, John, Kathy Wilson, and Lynn Collins, all of Indiana. In addition to his father, Arthur, he was predeceased by his siblings, Gary Collins, Arthur E. Collins, Jr., Harry Collins, and Alice Collins.
A funeral service in celebration of Art's life will be held at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, followed by burial in Hazardville Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 14 from 3-5 p.m. and one hour before the service on Monday from 10-11 a.m. Donations in Art's memory may be made to Healing Waters International, 15000 W. 6h Avenue, Suite 404, Golden, CO 80401, or at www.projecthealingwaters.org.
