Donald E. BRITSCHGI Jr. Obituary

BRITSCHGI, Donald E., Jr.

Donald E. Britschgi, Jr. (76) of Orlando, FL, gave his heart to God on St. Valentine's Day this past Thursday February 14th after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 5, 1937 in Syracuse, New York, son of the late Donald E. Britschgi, Sr. and Jane Tague Britschgi, he is survived by his wife, Alberta Britschgi, to whom he was married for 50 years and also survived by his children, Donald "Ted" Britschgi, of Itu, Brazil, Donna Britschgi of Glastonbury, CT and Dina Danahy, of Orlando, FL, his son-in-law, Scott Danahy and his treasured grandson, Connor Danahy, who will miss him dearly. He also leaves behind many special and caring members of his extended family in Syracuse. He grew up in Syracuse where he attended Most Holy Rosary School and where as a child, he acquired his passion for basketball, golf, the peace and beauty of Skaneateles Lake and the value of friendships. He attended LeMoyne and St. John Fisher College and served in the army national guard in the early 1960s. He was a member of the PGA and competed in several tour events with the help of his mentor and great pal, Ted Kroll. In 1971, he moved to Connecticut and was the president of Hartford Valve and Fitting Company for 31 years. He was a loyal fan of the Hartford Whalers' and a season ticket holder from day one. He was also a member of Waterbury and Farmington Country Clubs, a club champ three times. He was a man of faith and devotion to God, loved the Latin mass and was a dedicated acolyte, even serving recently when he was very sick. Although he was an only child, he had many brothers, his loyal and devoted friends all the way through - he loved you all. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses whose wisdom and compassion was unsurpassed. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Fallon, Dr. Donald Collins of Orlando and Bishop Louis Montelongo and the people of Sacred Heart Church.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10am at The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception, 259 E Onondaga St Syracuse, NY 13202. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
