MADING, Franz I.

Franz I. Mading, 71, of Rickwood Lane, Granby, passed away on Thursday, (November 22, 2012) 0at St. Francis Hospital. He was born October 14, 1941 in Heidelberg, Germany, son of the late Hans B. and Anna K. (Zuber) Mading Byrnes and had lived in Massachusetts prior to moving to Granby over 35 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Alaska and Nevada. Mr. Mading worked in Information Technology for RCA, UniVac, Cigna, The Aetna and The Hartford, where he retired as Special Consultant to the CIO. Franz enjoyed travel, skiing, dancing and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He is survived by his partner, Deborah Johnston of Granby, formerly of Canton; his aunt, Anna Byrnes of Massachusetts; his cousins, Patricia and Imelda Byrnes, his family: in Germany, Brigitte Berger and her husband Gerhard, their daughter Katrin, and son Yurgen and his family; and Brigitte and Martin Kneher; in Canton his sister-in-law, Kathy (Padula) Vogler, her husband, Richard D. Vogler; in Unionville his nephew, Richard J. Vogler and his wife Heather, great nieces, Ashley and Isabella Vogler, great nephew Owen Vogler; a niece, Kathryn (Vogler) Panzeri and her husband, Gianpaolo of Canton and many other relatives and friends throughout the US and Germany. He was predeceased by his first wife Isabella (Balzani) Mading and his second wife, MaryAnn (Padula) Mading.
