Grace Enggas Obituary

Grace (Falcetta) Enggas, 67, of Mansfield Center, beloved wife for 40 years of David Enggas, died Thursday (January 2, 2014) at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. She was born on May 25, 1946 in Hartford to the late Giacomo and Frances (Catanzaro) Falcetta. She graduated from Wethersfield High School, received a BA from the University of Connecticut and a MA in Higher Education from Ohio State University. As the Director of Housing and Financial Aid Coordinator at Eastern CT State University, she spent over 30 years supporting and encouraging young people to achieve their very best. She was active in the AFSCME union serving as an officer for many years. She was also involved in the community serving on Literacy and Cable TV boards of directors and was an Incorporator at Windham Community Memorial Hospital. She loved the serenity of local beaches, Bar Harbor, Maine vacations and especially Little Bear, who was the long-time nemesis of her husband. In addition to her loving and devoted husband David, whom she loved deeply Grace is also survived by her twin sister, Angela Atwater and husband, Marshall of Tolland; her brother Vincenzo "Jimmy" Falcetta and wife Margaret of North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Barbara Falcetta of Rhode Island and Cynthia Mahomet of Missouri; her nieces and nephews, Francesca Morrell, Jason Falcetta and wife Paula, Catherine Albert and husband Ryan, Cindy Atwater and partner Jon Rec and Matthew Atwater and partner Maggie Downie, and grandnieces and grandnephews, Samantha Morrell, Amelia and Reid Albert and Joshua Atwater-Rec. Grace deeply loved and admired her very special brother, Tarome Alford and his wife Milva McGhee of Manchester and her longtime friends, Margaret and Henry Link of West Hartford. She was predeceased by her brother, Salvatore Falcetta. A funeral service celebrating Grace's life will be held on Wednesday (January 8) at 10 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
