Helen M. Kuhns Obituary

Helen Margaret Mosse Kuhns, 90, of Stafford Springs, CT died peacefully on the morning of May 17th in her daughter's home in Terryville, CT. Helen was born on March 11, 1924 in Jinan (Tsinan) China, to missionaries Dr. Francis Henry (Robin) Mosse and Alice Evangeline Anderson Mosse. She spent the first part of her life there. She graduated Cum Laude from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in History and received a Masters in Zoology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She was a long time member of Staffordville Gospel Church. She has been an active participant at the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Annapolis, MD for almost 30 years. Many people considered her to be the "Grandma" of the festival. Her husband Wayne Kuhns predeceased her in 1985. She is survived by her sister Mary (Mei-li) & brother-in-law Richard Frothingham of Little Rock, AR; her son William Wayne & daughter-in-law Cynthia of Monkton, VT; her son John Robin (Buzz) & daughter-in-law Carroll of Monkton, VT; her son Hal Warren of Guilford, VT; her son Gordon Andrew (Gordo) & daughter-in-law Lisa of Seattle, WA; her son Donald Francis of Monkton, VT; and her daughter Mei-li Jean & son-in-law Arthur Sivigny of Terryville, CT. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and many extended family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stafford Library Association 10 Levinthal Run, Stafford Springs, CT 06076 or to your local library. A memorial service is planned for a future date. DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, is in charge of arrangements.
