Hyman Belansky Obituary


Hyman Belansky, 94, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Jeanne (Tessler) Belansky, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Crestfield Rehabilitation Center in Manchester. He was born on January 23, 1920, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Samuel and Dora Bilansky. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and was a graduate of Boys High School. He served our country during WWII with the U.S. Army. Hyman lived in Whitestone, NY for over 35 years, and worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Ridgewood, Brooklyn. Upon his retirement he moved to South Windsor over 25 years ago. He was an active member and volunteer of Temple Beth Hillel in South Windsor as well as the South Windsor American Legion Post #133, Knights of Pithius, Jewish War Veterans and Foodshare. Hyman was an avid reader and UCONN Basketball fan. He will be remembered as a kind, caring and generous man who will be missed by many. His family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Crestfield Rehabilitation for their kind and compassionate care. Along with his wife Jeanne of over 67 years, he leaves his daughters, Carole Neligon and her husband John of South Windsor and Robin Belansky and her husband Edward Stewart of Albany, NY; two grandchildren, Scott Neligon of Windsor and Michael Neligon and his wife Kerri of Miller Place, NY and a great grandson, Connor Michael Neligon. He was predeceased by his brother, Aaron Belansky and sister, Mary Kresin. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2, 1014, 12 Noon at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Burial will follow in Temple Beth Hillel Cemetery South Windsor.
