James B. Galvin Obituary


James B. Galvin, 74, beloved husband of Lynn (McMillan) Galvin, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford, the son of the late Floyd and Julia (Unites) Galvin he was raised in East Hartford, moving to Bloomfield in 1955. He attended Bloomfield High School and proudly served in the US Marine Corps. Jim worked for Consolidated Freight Ways, retiring after 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed all activities associated with the outdoors and was a member of the Bloomfield Fish and Game Club. Besides his wife of 45 years, he is survived by his two children, Lori Burman and her husband Guy Burman of Keene, NH, Jimmy Galvin of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Sarah Wendy Burman, Brooke McMillan, Molly Rose Burman, Chloe Marie Galvin, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Wendy Sue Galvin and his sister Geraldine Tine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, (March 25) at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Monday (March 24) from 4-7 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford.
