Jean YAEGER Obituary


Jean P. Yaeger, beloved wife of 60 years of James Yaeger, died peacefully Tuesday (October 1, 2013) with her family at her bedside after a brain hemorrhage. She was born in 1930 in Tipton, IN and met Jim while attending Indiana University. Jim and Jean then settled in the Chicago area where they had four children. They relocated to West Hartford in 1968 and moved to Duncaster Lifecare Community seven years before her death. Jean served as director of nursing services during the development of Brittany Farms nursing home and subsequently at the Greenwood nursing home. She then changed careers and became a computer programmer at Aetna until her retirement. Jean enjoyed cooking celebratory meals for her family, bridge, sailing, family gatherings in Duck, NC and traveling with Jim. In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her four children, Beverly of Charlottesville, VA, Lynn Kosowicz and her husband Francis of Newington, Barbara and her husband Lewis of Madison, William and his wife Barbara of Brighton England, as well as her sister Anne Turner of Boulder, CO. Also seven grandchildren; Elyssa, Rebecca, Lauren, Jennifer, Erica, Mackenzie, Jonathan and three great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Nathan and Austin. She was predeceased by her brother William Prosser of McClean, VA.
A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Duncaster Lifecare Community, 40 Loeffler Rd., Bloomfield, CT. For directions and online condolences, please visit
