Jerine SWANSON-JACOB Obituary


Jerine Swanson-Jacob, 69, of Southington, wife of Dr. Robert I. Jacob, passed away Monday (December 24, 2012) at Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. A New Britain native, she lived in Southington since 1984. A graduate of New Britain High School, she received her bachelor's and master's degrees from CCSU. Jerine was an elementary school teacher in Berlin for many years, retiring in 1997. During her career, Jerine was employed by the Department of Defense, teaching at Air Force bases in both the Philippines and Germany. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and also attended South Church, both in New Britain. Besides her husband Robert, she is survived by two sons, Attorney Randall C. Jacob and his wife Eileen of St. Augustine, FL; and Attorney Bradford C. Jacob and his wife Ann Catherine of Midlothian, VA; three grandchildren, Henry, Olivia and Rachel Jacob; sister-in-law Alice J. Tonucci of Newington, CT; and three cousins, Dr. Lawrence J. Botticelli of Boston, MA; Lorraine S. Botticelli of Wilmington, DE and Jerine's godchild, Alexis M. Botticelli of Miami, FL. Jerine was predeceased by her parents, Alexandra and Bror Swanson and her aunt and uncle, Sophie (Sally) and Lawrence W. Botticelli.
Funeral services are Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013, 11 a.m. at South Church 90 Main St., New Britain, CT 06051. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 West Main St., New Britain, CT 06051; or to Southington Community YMCA, 29 High St., Southington, CT 06489; or to the South Church.
