SCALORA, Joseph Anthony

Joseph Anthony Scalora, 54, of Enfield passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, (August 18, 2013) at his home. Born in Sicily, Italy, son of Nancy Maria (Longo) Scalora and the late Michael Scalora, he was raised in Bloomfield and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1976. He was licensed by the Federal Communication Commission in 1975 and received his Emergency Medical Technician Certification in 1977. Joe received the Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance Service Award and completed the Firefighter Training Course for the Blue Hills Fire Dept. in 1978. He was previously employed by Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield for many years and enjoyed adding to his extensive record collection and other music equipment collection. Along with his mother, he leaves his four siblings Jo-Ann Scalora of Southington, Paul Scalora and his partner Leola Girard of Berlin, Tina Roy and her husband John of Newington, and Anna Maria Scalora of MA, his five nieces and nephews, Nancy Scalora, Michael Scalora, Christina Scalora, Zachary Roy and Marissa Scalora.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 24th, at 11 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Burial will be private in St. Catherine Cemetery, Broad Brook. Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30-11 a.m. at Newington Memorial.
