CIAMPA, Joseph

Joseph Ciampa, 82, of Stonington, beloved husband of the late Jeanette (Gagne) Ciampa, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, (November 15, 2012). Son of the late Frank and Alba (Pasqualini) Ciampa, he was born in Lynn, MA on Nov. 19, 1929 and honorably served in the US Navy from 1947-50. After marrying his sweetheart Jeanette in 1950, the happy couple moved to Connecticut where they resided in Windsor for almost 30 years. Joseph worked for the City of Hartford Fire Department as a Firefighter retiring in 1980. He was also an honorary member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Company and took great pride in the restoration of a steamer fire engine that at one time served the City of Hartford. After his wife passed away, Joseph moved to Stonington where he has lived for over 20 years. He leaves a son, Joseph "Jody" Ciampa and his wife Suzanne of Farmingdale, ME; and two daughters, Linda (Ciampa) Doran of Port St. Lucie, FL and Patricia "Trish" (Ciampa) Mason and her husband Angel Jimenez of Bloomfield; a sister, Claire Spina of Lynn, Ma; three grandchildren, William "Billy" Stack, Jr. and Krystal Riley of West Hartford, Matthew Stack and his wife Rebecca (Faletti) Stack of West Suffield, and Christine Perkins of Hartford; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Hannah Stack. He also leaves a host of extended family and close friends in Stonington. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Donna (Ciampa) Bouffard; a grandson, Michael James Perkins; and two brothers, Frank and Raymond Ciampa.
A memorial service will be held on his birthday, Monday, Nov. 19, 8 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Entombment will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m. in the Mount St. Benedict Mausoleum, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends on Monday, November 19, 4-8 p.m., prior to the service at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home.
