CONOCHALLA, Joseph Jr.

Joseph Conochalla, Jr., 88, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at a local convalescent home. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Hovhanessian) Conochalla. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Coppola) Conochalla. Joseph was a World War II veteran, serving in the Marine Corps. After World War II, he served in the US Army Reserve, retiring in 1967 and the US Army, retiring in 1984. Joseph has been a Wethersfield resident since 1980, coming from Charleston, SC and New Britain. He was a member of the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Richard Gaudette of New Hartford, his brother John Conochalla of FL, two goddaughters, Sharon Grano-Sherwood, Sandra Grano-Dugay and several nieces and nephews. Joseph's brother, Charles Conochalla and his sister, Madeline Modifica, both predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain and 11:30 a.m. at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, New Britain. Burial, with full military honors, will be at the convenience of the family, in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, 1910 Stanley St., New Britain, CT 06053.
