Kurt E. Haeseler Obituary


Kurt Eric Haeseler, 43, of Suffield, beloved son of Eric "Rick" and Deborah Haeseler passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Kurt was born in Hartford on May 17, 1971 and was a 1992 graduate of E.O. Smith High School in Storrs. After high school, he lived for 16 years in St. Louis, Missouri before returning to Connecticut. Kurt came in 4th in the pentathlon at the International Special Olympics at Notre Dame University in 1987. He won many medals in soccer, bowling, golf, and downhill skiing over the years, most recently a gold in the giant slalom at the 2014 Special Olympics Connecticut Winter Games. Kurt travelled with his parents all over the country to visit Revolutionary and Civil War sites and loved history and current events. Besides his parents, Kurt is survived by his grandmother, Janice Rouse of Rocky Hill, his aunts and uncles: Sharon and David Forrest of Rocky Hill, Elizabeth and Andrew Tripp of New Hartford, Richard D. and Linda Rouse of Newington, and Helena Estes of New Haven. He also leaves five cousins and many friends. Kurt was predeceased by his grandparents Richard G. Rouse, Alexander and Marian Haeseler, and his uncle Stephen Haeseler. In lieu of flowers, please support the Jimmy Deren Memorial Bowling Buddies, c/o Donna Carney-Bastrzycki, Special Programs Coordinator, Suffield Parks & Recreation, 83 Mountain Road, Suffield, CT, 06078. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday June 12th at noon at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield.
