SIERACKI, Leonard M.

Leonard M. Sieracki, age 72, of Columbia, MD, son of the late Lillian and Joseph Sieracki (Meriden), died after prolonged illness on June 27, 2013. Len was an intrepid engineer and lifelong entrepreneur. His work ranged from ocean engineering and industrial controls, to providing the air system for the historic 1986 round-the-world Voyager aircraft flight. He was co-inventor of the world's first demand oxygen medical breathing system, and among other recognition was nominated for the White House National Medal of Technology & Innovation. Len graduated Platt-Maloney High School, and earned degrees from Catholic University of America and Johns Hopkins University. He is survived by his wife, Martha. Together they raised three children and have six grandchildren. He leaves a sister, Justine Serencha (Wallingford); uncle, Joseph J. Golec (Wethersfield); step-mother, Florence Sieracki (Meriden), and other cherished family in Connecticut.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Saint Stanislaus Church, Meriden, on Aug. 3, 2013, at 10 a.m. Please see memorial website: www.sieracki.org
