Michael J. Russo Obituary

Michael Joseph Russo, 87, of Dunedin, FL died, peacefully, on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Suncoast, Hospice in Palm Harbor, FL. He was the devoted husband of the late Ina (DeRosa) Russo. Born in Hartford, son of the late Anthony and Rose (Setaro) Russo, he grew up there and lived in Newington for many years. He graduated from Fairfield University and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Ina Jean DeRosa and shared 60 wonderful years together before her passing in July of 2013. Mr. Russo went to work with his father and uncles at Russo Brothers, Inc., Hartford for 55 years and served as president for 25 years, retiring in 2001. His passions were his family, cooking and following the New York Yankees. Survivors include his four children: Anthony G. Russo and his wife Dawn of Holiday, FL, Michael J. Russo, Jr. and his wife Annette of New Port Richey, FL, Valerie Russo Palermo and her husband Bobby of Palm Harbor, FL and Leslie Russo Misener and her husband Rick of Dunedin, FL and 9 grandchildren. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 8:00 a.m ., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9:00 a.m., at St. Thomas, The Apostle Church, W. Hartford. He will be laid to rest in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Newington Memorial.
