Morley J. Gann Obituary


Morley J. Gann of West Hartford, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 23, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Rosalie (Poriss) Gann, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born in 1924 in Hartford, he was the son of Harry and Minerva (Horowitz) Gann. He graduated Weaver High in 1943, going on to serve in the Army during World War II. Returning home, he attended the University of Bridgeport under the GI Bill, graduating in 1947. Morley became an independent insurance agent with his practice in West Hartford Center until his retirement in 1990 at age 66. Morley loved playing the stock market and restoring antiques and was known for his dry sense of humor. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Besides his wife Rosalie, he leaves behind his daughter Julie Campagna of Simsbury as well as his son Bradley Gann and his wife Alison of Los Angeles and his four cherished grandsons Michael, Cole, Jameson & Silas as well as many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his sister Rita Harvey & brother-in-law Ken Harvey. Services will be graveside TODAY Sunday April 27 at 1 pm at the Emanuel Cemetery in Wethersfield, 1361 Berlin Turnpike with Rabbi Philip Lazowski officiating. Following interment the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on the third floor of building "A" at the McAuley Home in West Hartford.The family would especially like to thank Ms. Rosa Velazquez for her compassionate & devoted care.
