Pasquale Cecchini "Pat" Cecchini Obituary

Pasquale "Pat" Cecchini, 78, of East Hartford and formerly of Glastonbury, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his home. Born in Hartford on March 12, 1935, a son of the late Peter and Lena (Morra) Cecchini, he grew up in Hartford's South-End and later moved to Glastonbury where he resided for most of his life prior to moving to East Hartford ten years ago. Pat was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. A professional Barber for 63 years in the Greater Hartford area, Pat was the owner and operator of several barber shops, which included the Millbrook Barber Shop, East Hartford; the Barber Barn, Glastonbury, and Pat's Barber Shop in Glastonbury. Pat was most proud of teaching his two sons the "Barber Trade" and they have both become successful barbers owning their own shops. An avid golfer, Pat was a member for many years of the Goodwin Park Men's Club, where he shot a "Hole-In-One". He enjoyed playing poker, visiting the casinos, listening to "Big Band Swing" music, being a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and a dedicated fan of the National Football League every weekend during their season. Most of all, Pat's favorite times were spending time with his children and grandchildren. Besides his parents, Pat was predeceased by a brother, Freddy Cecchini of Hartford who taught him how to be a Barber, and a sister, Mary Abromovitch of Hartford. Pat is survived by two sons, C.C. Garro and his wife, Krista, of Wethersfield; Darren Patrick Cecchini and Maria Cavaliere of Glastonbury; five adored grandchildren, Nicole and Alyssa Cecchini both of Glastonbury, Sully, A.J., and Gianna Garro all of Wethersfield. He also leaves two sisters, Tilly DiTomasso of East Hartford, Lucy Gallian and her companion, Bill Sudgen, of Griswold; many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and former customers. A celebration of Pat's life will be Sunday (December 8th) from 12 noon to 3 pm at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Pat's name may be made to a favorite .
