Raymond A. Contois Obituary

Raymond Albert Contois, 89, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Suffield House surrounded by his loving family. Born April 6, 1925 in Bristol, CT, he was a son to the late Francis and Yvonne (Pelletier) Contois. He was a veteran serving our country proudly with the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life, Beverly H. (Adams), on August 3, 1963 and together resided in Hartford until 1977 when the family settled in South Windsor. They shared 47 years of marriage until Beverly's passing on August 17, 2010. Raymond was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and was actively involved in church activities. He was a member of the Army & Navy Club, VFW, and assisted in a variety of functions at the South Windsor Senior Center. In Palm Coast, FL, where he and Beverly owned a winter home, he was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Color Corp, and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Men's Club. He also enjoyed bowling in the Sand Fleas Bowling League, golfing, fishing and spending time with his loving family. He is survived by his son, Rick Contois and his wife Luann of Broad Brook; daughters, Michele Tardif and her husband Marco of East Windsor, Nancy Piscottano and her husband Tony of Old Saybrook, RaeAnn Corso and her husband Charles of Hebron, and Karen Fortunato and her husband Vincent of Kensington; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Beverly. Calling hours will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, May 2nd at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Funeral services will held on Saturday, May 3rd beginning at 10am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 11am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor.
