Raymond I. Leonard Jr. Obituary


Raymond I. Leonard Jr., 65, of Windsor, loving husband for 38 years of Mary (Sorrentino) Leonard, passed away Thursday (June 5) after a long illness. Born in New Britain on Dec 1, 1948, he was son of the late Raymond Leonard Sr. and Sarah (Sirianni) Leonard. Ray graduated with Honors from New Britain High School in 1968. He then enlisted in the US Navy from 1969-1973 stationed in Norfolk, VA. Ray was employed at Okay Industries for a short time as a Tool & Die apprentice. In 1977, he started working at Stanadyne Corp in Windsor as a manufacturing supervisor, retiring in 2005. He lived in Windsor since 1979. He was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Britain and was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Besides his wife Mary, he leaves two sisters, Patricia Gioia and her husband Gilbert of Wethersfield; and Elizabeth "Liz" Tronosky and her husband William of Newington; four sisters in law; three brothers in law; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, whom he loved dearly. Ray's family wishes to thank the staff at Kindred Care Rehabilitation in Windsor; Oncolgist Dr. Joel Silver and Dr. Constantin Dasanu and their nurses; his primary care physician Dr. Frederick Pope and also the many doctors and nurses at St. Francis Hospital. Calling hours are Sunday 4 to 6 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. A Prayer Service will be held Sunday 5:30 PM during calling hours.
