Richard A. Dance, Sr., 66, of Rocky Hill and formerly Wethersfield, beloved husband for 28 years of the late Maria (Femiak) Dance, passed away on Thursday (August 21, 2014) at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Hartford on April 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Paul Dance, Jr. and Marion (Vicino) Dance. He was a graduate of Wethersfield High School and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Richard worked in the automobile sales business for over 40 years. He always had a nickname for everyone and had his own way of bringing out a smile. He enjoyed watching his sons on the football field, his daughter cooking in the kitchen, rooting for the New York Yankees and making trips to the casino. Richard was a loving father who missed Maria dearly. He is survived by his three children, Richard Dance, Jr. and Michael Dance, both of Rocky Hill and Laura Dance and her fiancé Eric Szczygiel of Wethersfield; his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Dance of Granby; his aunt and uncle, Lucy and Warren Martz of Wethersfield; his cousin, Steve Martz of Texas and many special friends, including Linda Buccheri. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Paul Dance, III. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (August 26) at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Everyone is invited to go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Donations in Richard's memory may be made to Hartford Hospital, Attn: Fund Development, 80 Seymour St., P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102.
