Rodney G. Houle Obituary

Rodney G. Houle, "Houlie" 66, of Terryville, husband of Carol (LeBeau) Houle died suddenly on Friday May 2, 2014. Rodney was born July 14, 1947 in Bristol, CT. He was the son of Jeannette (Labbie)Houle of Bristol and the late Gerard Houle. Rodney was a very well known man and loved by many. Besides his love for his family he was an active firefighter for Hose Co. #4 "The Mountaineers" for 40 years where he was the beloved captain for a number of those years. He retired from SNET after 30 years and was currently employed by Fibertech Networks. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea at the DMZ. Rodney was enthusiastic when he was called to serve at the Nation's Capital in 1968. "Houlie" volunteered on numerous town committees in both Terryville and Bristol. The Plymouth Democratic Town Committee and the Capital Improvements Committee are among the many. He also served on the town council and served as a Police Commissioner for several years. Besides his wife, Carol of 44 years, he is survived by his four daughters and son, Shelli Tellier and her husband Matt of Terryville, Kristi Nadeau and her husband Wayne of Unionville, Tammi Caccamo and her husband Giuseppe of Torrington, Cindi Theriault and her husband Bryan of Bristol and Rodney G. Houle II of Unionville. Rodney also known as "Papa" leaves behind his 6 precious grandchildren, Josh and Jake Tellier, Maddox and Mason Caccamo, Evan and Ava Theriault. He also leaves a brother, Donald Houle of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM.
