Roland O. Levesque Sr. Obituary


Roland O. Levesque, Sr., 76, of Bristol, beloved husband of Mona (Beaulieu) Levesque, died on Friday (January 3, 2014) in Dover, Vermont. Roland was born on March 24, 1937 in New Brunswick, Canada and was a son of the late Albenie and Esther (Desjardins) Levesque. Raised in Van Buren, ME, he has resided in Bristol for the past 50 years and was the president and owner of MRS Enterprises, Inc. He was a member of Palos Council #35 Knights of Columbus, the Blue Water Sailing Club of Boston, and St. Joseph Church, Bristol. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Military Policeman. Roland was known for his calm demeanor, wisdom and sage advice. Respected in his industry, others often sought out his technical expertise, opinion and sound business philosophy. He influenced and mentored countless individuals over his 53 years in the construction industry. Roland was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed debating political, religious and economic issues whiles remaining respectful to the viewpoints of others. He and his wife Mona enjoyed several hobbies together, both were avid skiers, sailors and enjoyed traveling the world,. They especially enjoyed their winters skiing in Vermont and their summers sailing in Newport, RI. But most of all, he truly enjoyed the company of family, friends and colleagues. Roland made friends easily, deeply cared about them and always provided a helping hand or financial assistance without asking for anything in return. In addition to his wife of 53 years, Roland is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Roland O. Levesque, Jr. and Betsey Levesque of South Kent, and Steven and Sharon Levesque of Bristol; a daughter and son in law, Paula and Michael Blethen of Burlington; five brothers, Harold Levesque of California, Donald, Kenneth, Peter Levesque of Bristol, and John Levesque of Torrington; five sisters, Yolande Morin of Bristol, Jackie Plourd of Plainville, twins Agatha Ringuette of Southington and Gaetane McNally of South Fort Myers, FL, and Donna Ashmead of Alaska; four grandchildren, Nicole Marie Loveland and her husband, Tim, of Chicago, IL, Stephanie Levesque and her fiancé, Marchin Kozicki, of Bristol, Alec Levesque and his wife, Jaclyn, of Rochester, NY, and Ariel Levesque of Tariffville; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Levesque. A Mass of Christian Burial for Roland will be celebrated on Thursday (January 9, 2014) at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, 33 Queen Street, Bristol, followed by military honors. A private entombment will take place in Holy Family Mausoleum, Bristol.
