Rolland Romeo Cote Sr. Obituary


Rolland Romeo Cote, Sr. 90, of Manchester, devoted husband of 13 years to Georgette (Lawrence) Cote, and predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Joan MaryJean Juliette (Soucie) Cote, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Rolland was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada on October 25, 1923, the son of Belone and Febrenie (Durpos) Cote, he had lived in Manchester the last 63 years. Before retiring in 1986, Rolland was a machinist at ABA Tool & Die, Manchester for 30 years. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving on the USS Belleau Wood, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Campbell Council for many years and a communicant of St Bridget Church in Manchester. Besides his wife Georgette, he leaves two daughters, Darlena Pehr of Vernon and Sandra Ciesones of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Cote of Broad Brook, four grandsons: Rolland R. Cote, III and his wife Esther of Enfield, Mark Cote and his wife Adrianne of Ellington, Michael Cote and his wife Vonda of Amston, and Patrick Kelly and his wife Heather of Ellington; four great grandchildren: Dustin and Lindsay Cote, Cassondra Cote and Mason Kelly; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife Joan, Rolland was predeceased by an infant son and daughter, his son Rolland R Cote Jr, his sisters: Emily Cote, Laura Belanger, Martine Parent; and six brothers: Archie, Pat, Hubert, Felix, Peter and Aurel. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, June 27th from 4 to 8p.m. at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 28th beginning at 9:30a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30a.m. at St Bridget Church, 80 Main St, Manchester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St James Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rolland's name may be made to Fox Hill Rehabilitation Center, Vernon, CT or the .
