SAVINO, Rosemary (Horan) (Driscoll)

Rosemary (Horan) (Driscoll) Savino, 77, of Enfield, passed away at her home on November 28, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late James and Alice (Shea) Horan on May 5, 1935, in Hartford, and was a graduate of Hartford Public High School. Rosemary married her first husband, Joseph C. Driscoll, in 1955 and had 3 children. She had an interesting career as a news reporter for the Springfield Daily News, worked on television for Channel 57 in Springfield, and then went on to work for both the Hartford Times and the Hartford Courant. During her news days she spent one day interviewing Ted Kennedy, took a drive with Paul Newman for a story, and tackled many other interesting subjects. Rosemary ended her career working as a spokesperson for several State of Connecticut agencies. She was predeceased by her brothers James and Robert Horan. Rosemary is survived by her three children, Joseph C. Driscoll III and his wife, Laura, Michael Driscoll and his wife, Jane, all of Somers, and Linda Driscoll-Sbar and her wife, Freda, of Northampton, MA; her six adoring grandchildren, Charlie and Molly Driscoll, Alannah and Zoe Driscoll-Sbar, Clay Bannock and his wife, Toni, and Matt Bannock and his wife, Jennifer; and three great grandchildren, Stephanie, Lilly and Leah, children of Clay and Toni Bannock. She also leaves her brother Tom Horan and his wife, Mary Margaret, of Simsbury, her sister Joan Beebe and her husband, Richard, of Enfield, and her companion for the past 20 years, Charles Alaimo. Rosemary's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her special angel from Poland, Alicja Syta for the wonderful care she provided to Rosemary during her final weeks. The family would also like to give thanks to Rosemary's physician Dr. Darren O'Neill and his nurse Margie.
A funeral service in celebration of Rosemary's life will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, preceded by calling hours from 2-4 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of Rosemary's family. In lieu of flowers Rosemary's family requests that donations in her memory be made to the Hole in the Wall Gang Fund, 555 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT 06511.
