PERRONE, Thomas J. Jr.

Thomas J. "Chief" Perrone, Jr., 88, of Westbrook, loving husband of 66 years of Ann (Sheridan) Perrone, peacefully entered into eternal life on Thursday (October 4, 2013) with his caring family by his side. Born in Hartford on July 1, 1925, a son of the late Thomas J. and Annie (Ferrigno) Perrone, Sr., he had resided in East Hartford and Broad Brook for many years. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. While in Broad Brook he was a volunteer with the Broad Brook Volunteer Fire Department where he obtained his nickname "Chief". Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Truck Driver for many years with AAA Trucking and a member of the Teamsters Local 671. A talented singer as a child, Chief sang on local radio stations during his pre-teen years. Later on, he became a handyman who enjoyed repairing and building various items around his home and for family members. Most of all, Chief was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved being around his family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Stephen M. Perrone of Poughkeepsie, NY; two brothers, Russell J. Perrone of Bloomfield, Robert J. Perrone of Boston, MA; and two sisters, Mary Perrone of Hartford, Jane Merrill of Tucson, AZ. Along with his beloved wife, Ann, Chief is survived by four sons, Thomas J. Perrone, III and his wife, Carol, of Old Saybrook, Russell J. Perrone and his wife, Angel, of Orange Park, FL, Richard Perrone of East Windsor, Mark Perrone and his wife, Carol Ann, of Lawrenceville, GA; a sister, Constance "Connie" Hogerty of Rockledge, FL; a daughter-in-law, Linda Perrone in South Carolina; eight special grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 7 at 10:15 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, (Section H), Bloomfield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday October 6 from 3-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom's name may be made to a favorite .
