Veronica Boukus "Vera" Boukus Obituary


Boukus, Veronica A. (Witkowski) "Vera," of Manchester, Ct. passed away, suddenly, on January 03, 2014, in Long Island, N.Y. Vera was born in Poquonock, Ct. on August 13, 1922, was married to Air Force Maj. John P. Boukus (deceased) , traveling and living in Germany and many of the states, during his career and her role as wife and mother Vera worked at Manchester Modes as a supervisor before retiring at age sixty- two. Survivors include a son, John G. Boukus (Jean) of Peoria, Az. and a daughter, Karen Tempera (Victor) of Peachtree City, Ga. She leaves 8 grand children and 17 great grand children. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Barbara, Mary, Emily, Frances, Adam, Joe and Bill. Vera was an active Senior. She belonged to the Manchester Senior's Center for many years, contributing her talents and cooking expertise in the kitchen and enjoying all festivities the center had to offer. Vera belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW since 1966 , the Manchester Grange since 1972, earning her 40 yr. pin in 2012 and 7 degrees and the East Central Pomona for 3 yrs. where again, she donated time and effort. Her hobbies and pastimes include crocheting blankets for family and friends, cooking, senior trips ,camping with her best friend Harriett and being with those she loved. Vera was a kind and giving person, anxious to see what each new day held for her. Life was a celebration. We will miss her. Services will take place at Clayton Funeral Home on Wed. January 8th, Kings Park, N.Y. A service will also take place in Manchester, Ct. at a later date and this will be announced. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the . 825 Brook Street I-91 Tech.
