ELKEY, Warren Joseph Jr.

Warren Joseph Elkey Jr., "Big Joe", 79, of Hartford, entered into eternal rest on Thursday (September 26, 2013) with family by his bedside. Warren was born in Hartford on June 4, 1934 to the late Warren Elkey Sr. and Henrietta (Robinson) Elkey. A lifelong resident of Hartford, Warren attended the Hartford Public Schools and went on to a career as a baker for First National Bakery and as a transporter for New England Bioassay. He was a veteran of the United States Army and carried much of the courage and conviction garnered from servicing his country with him as a husband, father, friend, and provider to many. Warren leaves to celebrate his home-going: wife, Lorene; five children: Carolyn, Warren (Pam), Marvin (Jennifer), Lori, and Andre; 13 grandchildren: Lee, Krystal, Marvin, Ashley, Rachel, Stephany, Markita, Sashelle, Joseph, CJ, Matthew, Andre'ea, and Andre; three great-grandchildren: Jaelah, Isaiah, and Jaevon; several dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wealth of other family members and close friends.
Calling hours will be held at Pilgrim Way Baptist Church in Windsor, CT on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 9 a.m.; with the funeral service to follow at 10 a.m. Reverend Robert L. Littlejohn of Pilgrim Way Baptist will be officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow the funeral at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to All Faith Memorial Chapel, South Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pilgrim Way Baptist Church Women's Ministry.
