William Francis Hood Obituary


"Sweet Caroline, Good Times Never Seemed So Good - Heaven's gained a special angel - our one and only Billy Hood! So good, So good, So HOOD!" Our beloved William Francis Hood passed away in Florida on April 27, 2014. He was born in Hartford Connecticut on February 27, 1934 where he lived most of his life moving to The Villages in Florida in 2003. He leaves his devoted wife Gail (Shackewyc) and his six loving children. Judy (Louie) Bartoletti, Matt (Patty) Hood, Beth(Kenny)Trenchard, Tricia Paesani, Brenda (Andy) Bartoletti, and Meghan Hood, his stepchildren, Kenneth (Wendy)Haase and Donna (Paul)Milliken. He also leaves his precious grandchildren, Austin, Tricia, Jessi, Gina, Carly, Brittany, Regan, Kristen, Matthew, Joey, Olivia, Eddie - step-grandchildren Zachary, Lucas, Amanda and Alyssa, and great-grandchildren Sophia and Basima, his two sisters Marjorie Lauria and Joanne (Peter)DiResta. Bill was 1948 class President of St. Augustine School and a graduate of Bulkeley High School class of 1952, where he met his first wife of twenty years Dolly(Camp) Hood. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and then established Upper State Dental Laboratory in 1962, where he worked as President for 41 years. He was a former President of the Connecticut Dental Laboratory Association, a member of the Hartford Elks Club, the Army/Navy Club, the Zipser Club, and the Men's Club at Tallwood CC. All who knew him knew his zest for life and living it to its fullest! He cherished his family and friends and loved opening day of fishing, Fenway Park, a golf game at Tallwood, the Zip, St. Augustine's Boys Brigade, a Franklin Ave grinder, a parade (and not just on St. Patrick's Day!), the Lettermen, directing our annual "12 days of Christmas" concert, a good 'ole Southern Comfort Manhattan and living in The Villages! A memorial mass will be held at St. Augustine Church in Hartford on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. Friends are welcome to join us in celebrating the life of our husband, Dad, Pops, brother, Uncle Willie and dear friend Billy Hood! "Love you much, ciao for now !" In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Augustine School, 20 Clifford St, Hartford, CT 06114.
