GNAZZO, William Robert

William Robert Gnazzo, 72, of Bristol passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends Wednesday afternoon, (October 23, 2013) at John Dempsey Hospital University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. Bill fought a short but valiant battle against kidney cancer. He was the husband of the late Patricia Ann (Wagner) Gnazzo. Bill was born in New Britain on Tuesday, September 23, 1941 a son of the late William John Gnazzo and Anne (Petrucci) Gnazzo. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Bill was the owner of Bill Gnazzo Carpet Cleaning for more than 30 years. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elk's Lodge #1010 for over 40 years; American Legion; VFW Post 511, New Britain; and Sons of Italy, Southington. Bill was a cigar aficionado, a gourmet cook and was a very staunch Republican. He was a long time active member of Church of Our Saviour in Plainville where he served as an acolyte as a youth and currently as thurifer at the Christmas Eve Mass and as an usher. He leaves daughters Donna Gnazzo of New Britain and Gina Maisto and her husband Michael of Farmington a son, Robert Gnazzo and his wife Maureen of Plainville ; brother Edward Gnazzo and his wife Monika of Bristol; sister Linda Pearson of Australia; grandchildren Nichole Maisto of Farmington, Brenna and Keely Gnazzo, Mark and Sarah Durkee all of Plainville and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his close companion Mary Savino of Manchester.
Calling hours will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol until leaving for Church of Our Saviour, 115 West Main St., Plainville for a service at 12 p.m. Military honors will be accorded following the service.
