Dora "Jean" Byrd Pickett-Bourne

Hattiesburg

Dora "Jean" Pickett-Bourne (nee Byrd) born February 11, 1926 in Leakesville, MS. passed away peacefully on March 26, 2014.

She was past State President of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, long time officer and member of the Cooties Auxiliary Organization and member of the Purple Hearts Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband O.M. "Joe" Pickett of 49 years, granddaughter Angela Brown and husband James R. Bourne of 13 years.

She is survived by her son Larry Byrd Pickett and daughters Janet Pickett Deal and JoAnne Pickett Parks and son-in-law Robert Don Parks.

She is also survived by her sisters Virginia Sangster, Carolyn Williams and brother James "Ducky" Byrd, along with 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.

Services will be held at Main Street Methodist Church, 712 N. Main St. in Hattiesburg with services beginning at 10 a.m. with visitation starting at 9 a.m. on March 31, 2014. Interment following at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
