Virginia Faye Tucker Rowland, 75, died April 4, 2012 at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, AR. She was born February 15, 1937 in Maysville, AR to the late Robert and Leta (Dill) Tucker.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Oldfather and granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann, of Bella Vista, AR; three sisters, Carol Ann Walker, and Judy Bishop both of Maysville, AR and Ernestine Breeding of Mounds, OK.
Ms. Rowland was a member and life long advocate of the 4-H club in Northwest Arkansas. She was an active member of the Girl's 4-H house at the University of Arkansas where she graduated with a bachelor and master degree in Home Economics. She obtained a Ph.D in Family and Consumer Sciences from Oklahoma State University and was a college professor in at Louisiana State University and the University of Southern Mississippi. She retired from USM in 1998 after teaching there for 12 years.
Ms. Rowland was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville, AR. She compiled and published the 4-House Alumni newsletter for several decades. Her hobbies were gardening, reading and cooking. Her most precious times were spent with her granddaughter.
A memorial service was held April 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville, AR. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to The Extension Homemakers Club, c/o Katherine Tucker, 204 Charlotte S.E., Gravette, AR, 72736.
