KILLIAN, BARBARA B., passed away at her home on Saturday, July 26 surrounded by her family. She was 86. Barbara is survived by her husband, William B. Killian; son, Sean Killian, daughter, Kathleen Killian; and grandchildren, Gambrill and James Foster. Born in Patoka, Illinois on December 3rd 1927, Barbara was raised in DeKalb, Illinois. She married William Killian, also from DeKalb, on August 16, 1950. Barbara and Bill moved to Miami in 1954 at the beginning of Bill's legal career in Florida. They spent 3 years in Tallahassee (1957-1960) when Bill was part of the administration of Governor Leroy Collins, returning afterward to Miami. Barbara graduated from Gulf Park College, Gulfport Mississippi in 1947. She graduated from the University of Illinois, Champagne Urbana, in 1949 with a BA in English literature and a minor in Fine Arts. At the University of Illinois, Barbara became a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and later a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Reflecting her interest in care for children and the arts, Barbara was a lifelong member of Gilded Lilies and the Young Patrons of the Opera here in Miami. Barbara created a home of great love and great beauty for her family. The funeral will be held this Saturday, August 2nd at 11am at the Chapel of the Venerable Bede on the University of Miami campus. The interment is to follow at 2pm at Woodlawn Park South Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to the Chapel.
