LOCKSHIN, BERTRAM ARTHUR, beloved husband to Arlene, exceptional father to Carol and her husband, Jack Adelson, and fun-loving grandfather to Jeff and Paul Adelson died peacefully at Mt. Sinai Hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 13, with his family by his side. He was 90 years young. In his own words, "Mom and I enjoyed a wonderful life together for over 63 years, have done a lot of things and had wonderful friends in Miami and in Youngstown, Ohio. But, the best thing we did was have a wonderful family." A proud Ohio State "Buckeye," Bert was the well-respected manager of the Pepsi Cola Bottling Plant in Youngstown, Ohio for more than 20 years before moving to Miami in 1972. After moving to Florida, he enjoyed developing office buildings, a hotel and the homes on Compass Island in the Islands of Jupiter. As his friends know, Bert's favorite phrase was "that reminds me of a story," followed by a tale that left both the audience and teller giggling. His sharp mind, fantastic memory and quick wit were matched only by his warm personality and concern for others. He was also known for his love of all people and the sincere joy he took in the company of friends new and old. A Mason, member of the Rotary Club and Temple Beth Sholom, Bert was also active on the Cricket Club Condominium Association board, which he led as president for many years. Besides spending time with his family, one of his favorite activities was meeting up with his Lunch Bunch every Monday. Bert cherished and is also survived by his close-knit family: siblings Bob and Joyce Lockshin, Allen and Arlene Lockshin and Shirley and Stan Lerner; in-laws Jerry, Kay and Doris Tamarkin; and his wonderful nieces and nephews. The family will observe Shiva at The Cricket Club's reception room, 1800 NE 114th St., from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Aug. 17, at 12 noon at Levitt Weinstein Eternal Light Funeral Service Center, 18840 W. Dixie Highway, N. Miami Beach. Arrangements by Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert (305) 865-2353
