Lilian Holmes succumbed to the effects of Alzheimer's Disease & Breast Cancer on Sunday, March 23rd, 2014. She was born on January 7th, 1927 to David and Isabel Whitmarsh in Paris, France. Her father served in the Cuban military there at the time of her birth. She attended American Dominican Academy in Havana, Cuba and was proud to be a great-granddaughter of Cuban war hero Calixto Garcia. She fled to Miami in the 1950's during the reign of Fulgencio Batista. She had a career as a stenographer for several companies, including Procter & Gamble and Pan American Airlines. She is survived by her son Ernie Holmes, her daughter-in-law Kim Stewart Holmes, and her grandson Brett Holmes. Lilian was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Memorial services will be held at Hollywood Community Church, 1708 N 60th Ave, Hollywood, FL 33021 on Saturday April 26th at 11am.
