ARES, MD MYRIAM B., born July 12,1927 in Guines,Cuba, passed away December 1, 2013. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Havana Medical School, did her internship in Toledo,Ohio. Myriam did her residency in Memphis and worked as an obstetrician. In the 1960's,She became the Medical Director of the Cuban Refugee Center in Freedom Tower over seeing the care of as many as 2,500 patients per week. Subsequently she obtained her Masters in Public Health at Tulane University, then becoming Director of Disease Prevention in the Dade County Health Department. After this she became Director of the Health Department in Monroe County, living in Key West at the time, she was awarded the title of an Honorary Conch. Myriam continued to work in Medical Clinics until she was 80 yrs. old. She took great pleasure in her work by helping others, and dedicated her life to working with those less fortunate. She received many accolades as well as countless newspaper articles complimenting her work. Myriam is survived by her five children, Vivian Bosch, Myriam Bosch, William Bosch, Lourdes Bosch, and Orlando Bosch Jr, her two grandchildren Gabriela Sverdlov and Daniel Blinder, and 2 great grandchildren Stella Sverdlov and Milah Blinder. Myriam is survived by her brother Sergio Ares, as well as cousins, nieces and other family members. Funeral services will be held at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn 3344 SW 8 St.,wake after 4 PM, Tuesday December 3, and burial at Woodlawn Park North Wednesday at 10 AM
