KANNER, RICHARD A., 81 on Friday, March 14, 2014, at his home in Escazu, Costa Rica from complications following surgery. His loving wife, Regina, was at his side. Richard was a Miami native and an alumnus of the University of Florida, where he earned his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees. He was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity and a proud Florida Gator. He served in Germany as Specialist 3rd Class in the intelligence corps of the United States Army from 1954-1956. He maintained a trial law practice in Miami for more than 40 years, and presented oral arguments before the United States Supreme Court on two separate occasions. Most weekends, he could be found sailing in Biscayne Bay on his beloved sloop, the Belle Ami. He is survived by his wife Regina Kanner; brother Lewis Kanner (Marcia), Miami, FL; children Jacqueline Rubens (Michael), London, England; Sam Kanner (Wendy), Boca Raton, FL; Sharon Johnson (Carl), Newton, MA; and Sandra Kanner, Miami, FL; niece Ellen Kanner (Benjamin Bohlmann), Miami, FL; and grandchildren Andrew, Oliver, Steven, David, Georgina, and Madeline.
