SPC. ABAD, SERGIO S., 21 yrs., of Miami, FL was killed in action during a deadly attack in Afghanistan on Sunday, July 13th. Sergio attended South Miami High School and was serving his country for the last 2 1/2 years in the United States Army assigned to the 173 Airborne as a Ranger. Sergio was a beloved son, father-to-be, fiancée, brother, friend and most of all soldier. His unborn daughter, to be named Lorelai Rocio Abad, survives him. Sergio is also survived by his two loving families: Mom, Lori Pitts; Dad, Paul Pitts; sisters Krystine and Katheryn and brothers Zachery and Leo. His other Mom, Marilyn Popko; Dad, Steve Popko; and sister Catherine. His mentor and hero CSM O.R. Hoggard also survives him. Sergio was to be married next month to his loving fiancée, Christina Parra. Sergio has specifically requested no funeral service, however did request a "Celebration" of his life.
