HAAS, STUART L. M.D. passed away on April 18, 2014 in New Orleans Louisiana. Stuart was born in Springfield Massachusetts to Irwin and Lillian Haas where he resided until his admission to the University of Virginia where he was awarded his Bachelor of Science and his medical degree. Subsequent to his graduation he served in the U.S. Navy until coming to Miami to commence the practice of medicine in Miami Shores. During the time of his practice, he was a constant volunteer and served on many trips on the Hope ship to various parts of the world attending to the needs of the underserved. Upon retirement from the active practice of medicine, Stuart moved to New Orleans where he volunteered at the Tulane Medical School and while a resident of Louisiana was appointed Assistant Secretary of Health for the State of Louisiana. Stuart left many friends and family who loved and cherished their relationships with him and especially his long time companion, Gail Shannon, with whom he shared many beautiful moments. Stuart was a warm, wonderful, caring man who literally touched people all over the world and when the roll was called, he always appeared to do that which was necessary to make someone better and more comfortable. The world is a better place for his having passed through. Services are to be held at Lakeside Memorial Park and Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
