JOHNSON Ted Johnson, 73 year old Key Colony Beach resident, died in Atlanta, GA on August 10, 2013. Born Edward Ernest to Ernest and Mary Johnson on Nov 2, 1939 Ted was raised in Stoneham, MA. As a child he loved magic tricks. In the 1950's he joined the Navy, was stationed in Puerto Rico and served as an electrician. Mr. Johnson relocated to Southern California, raised his two sons, worked as a medical equip- ment specialist and owned an ice cream parlor. IN 2004 he achieved his life's goal of becoming a full time Floridian. Ted traveled internationally and, near age 70, para-glided in Peru. Mr. Johnson is survived by his son Ted Johnson Jr. (Las Vega, NV), son and daughter-in-law, Don and Shea, and the love of his life, grand-daughter, Avery Johnson (Atlanta, GA). He also leaves dear siblings, sister Mary Lovelady (Ogden, UT), brother and sister-in-law Tom and Karen Johnson (Milford, NH), in addition to loving niece and nephews Jennifer and Matt Johnson, Richard, Tom, Joe and John Bush. Boating, fishing, skeet shooting, Miami Opera, poker, the Christmas boat parade and volunteering with the KCB Childrens' Fishing Derby were his favored pastimes. Mr. Johnson requested that his life be honored by teaching youth to abstain from smoking. The family extends special thanks to Miami oncologist Dr. Frances Valdez and home health care specialist Mayra Blanford for their extraordinary care. There will be no memorial service. His Key Colony and Casa Clara friends hosted a life celebration gathering which he was able to attend.
